Tea Refill Initiative

Green Hotel Group supports the Tea Refill Initiative by providing four free drinking-water refill points across Taichung, Chiayi and Nantou. The programme encourages travellers and local residents to carry reusable bottles, refill water when needed and reduce dependence on single-use plastic bottles. A simple refill can become a practical environmental choice during an everyday journey.

Since joining the initiative in 2017, Green Hotel Group has helped avoid the use of approximately 360,000 plastic bottles and reduce an estimated 33.5 metric tons of carbon emissions. These results show how small, repeated actions can create meaningful change when guests, neighbours and partner locations participate together.

The four refill points include Green Hotel near Calligraphy Greenway in Taichung, Zusin Garden Villa in Qingjing, Home Way Hotel in Chiayi and Cherry Espresso Feng Chia. Visitors may bring a reusable bottle and follow the instructions provided at each location to refill drinking water free of charge.

The Tea Refill Initiative connects friendly businesses and public spaces throughout Taiwan. Its network makes it easier to find drinking water while travelling, walking through a neighbourhood or spending time outdoors. By choosing a refill instead of purchasing another bottled drink, each participant helps reduce plastic waste as well as the emissions associated with production, packaging and transportation.

Sustainability becomes more approachable when it is included in familiar routines. Guests do not need special equipment beyond a clean reusable bottle, and participation takes only a few moments. The action is small enough to repeat every day, yet its collective impact continues to grow.

Green Hotel Group welcomes hotel guests, café visitors and members of the community to use these refill points. Whether a journey begins in the city or continues into the mountains, access to drinking water can support both personal well-being and a lighter environmental footprint. Let kindness flow, let sustainability happen, and let every refill become another step toward a more responsible way of travelling.

For more information and additional refill locations, visit the official Tea Refill Initiative website at https://www.circuplus.org/.

奉茶行動官方網站

A refill network also supports more thoughtful travel planning. Visitors can check refill locations before leaving their accommodation, carry enough water for the next part of the trip and return to a participating location when needed. This reduces the temptation to buy several disposable bottles during a long day. Families, cyclists, walkers and public-transport travellers can all take part without changing the purpose of their journey.

The environmental value extends beyond the bottle itself. Producing bottled water requires raw materials, energy, packaging and transportation. After use, bottles must be collected, sorted and processed, and some may still become waste. Reusing one durable bottle avoids many of these steps. When the same habit is repeated by thousands of visitors, the savings in materials and emissions become significant.

Hospitality spaces are natural partners for this kind of initiative because they welcome people who are away from home and need reliable local information. Staff can help visitors recognise the refill point and understand how to use it respectfully. The result is a practical connection between hospitality, community service and environmental responsibility.

The programme also encourages conversations about sustainable habits. A guest who discovers the refill point during a stay may continue carrying a reusable bottle after returning home. Children can see that environmental action is part of everyday life, while businesses can demonstrate that convenience and responsibility do not need to be in conflict.

Every refill is an invitation to pause, take care of personal well-being and make a lower-waste choice. Green Hotel Group will continue supporting accessible actions that help travellers explore cities and mountain destinations with less disposable plastic. Bring a bottle, share the refill information with companions and help the Tea Refill

Initiative reach more people.
