The Taichung Broadcasting Station, built in 1935 during the Japanese occupation, has beautiful architecture and gardens, making it a popular photo spot for many tourists and an "old friend" in the hearts of many Taichung citizens. The address "No. 1 Radio Street" is also the only house number on the entire Radio Street, which is quite special. Taichung Broadcasting Station has played an important role in Taiwan's broadcasting history. It officially started broadcasting on May 11, 1935. It was established by the Japanese government as a broadcast relay for the entire Taiwan region in order to develop the broadcasting industry. It was also the third radio station in Taiwan. It retired from the broadcasting industry in 1998, was registered as a Taichung City Historic Building in 2002, was renovated by architect Chen Boyan in 2003, and was commissioned to be planned and operated by the Good Position Team (@STUDIO Cultural and Creative) of the OT Operation Division of Shengqiao Information Historic Buildings in 2015, hoping to inherit the spirit of "information dissemination" of the broadcasting station and establish an important cultural broadcasting base in central Taiwan.
