Exhibition Overview
“A Leaf, an Ark” is the 2026 charity exhibition presented by coloured-pencil artist Jessie and her students. The exhibition invites visitors to look closely at living beings and consider how art can create space for understanding, care and conservation. A single leaf may appear small, yet it can become an ark that carries life and hope. In the same way, one drawing can begin a conversation and lead viewers toward stories that deserve attention.
The works are displayed throughout the first to eighth floors of Green Hotel in Taichung. Visitors can experience the exhibition while moving through the hotel, discovering detailed coloured-pencil drawings in different spaces. The careful layering of colour, light and texture encourages slow observation. Look at the expressions, feathers, fur and subtle changes in tone, and notice how each artist approaches the presence and individuality of a living subject.
This is also a joint charity sale supporting the Raptor Research Group of Taiwan. By connecting visual art with conservation, the exhibition encourages visitors to move from appreciation to awareness. The project shows that support can begin with a small action: spending time with an artwork, learning about wildlife, sharing a conservation story or choosing to support the charity sale.
Visit Information
Families with children are welcome to use the exhibition as a starting point for conversation. Ask what details they notice first, how the animals seem to feel and why their habitats matter. Coloured-pencil drawings are especially helpful for close observation because their textures are built gradually through many careful layers.
The charity sale gives every visitor an opportunity to connect appreciation with action. Each work represents hours of observation, practice and patient drawing by Jessie and her students. By supporting the exhibition, visitors also help bring attention to the conservation work of the Raptor Research Group of Taiwan. Small choices can help conservation stories travel farther.
Guests may begin their visit on the first floor and continue upward through the hotel. Because the artworks are distributed across several floors, the exhibition offers a relaxed viewing experience rather than a single crowded gallery room. Take time to notice how each drawing uses layered colour to describe feathers, fur, light and expression. The route is suitable for independent visitors, couples, families and small groups who would like to enjoy art while discovering the environmental ideas behind each work.
The exhibition runs from October 17 to November 29, 2026, at Green Hotel, with artworks presented across floors 1F to 8F. Admission is free. The project is organised by Jessie’s Colored Pencil Club, co-organised by Green Hotel and curated by Yeh Chi-Wei. Visitors of all ages are welcome to explore the exhibition at their own pace and
discover how coloured-pencil art can bring people closer to wildlife and conservation stories.
Visitors planning a trip to Taichung can include this free exhibition in a cultural itinerary around the West District. The extended exhibition period makes it easy to return with friends or compare favourite works on another day. Photography and viewing should always follow the guidance provided on site. Before leaving, consider which image stayed in your memory and what conservation message it carried. A thoughtful conversation after the visit can extend the meaning of the exhibition beyond the hotel and encourage continuing attention to wildlife, habitats and responsible coexistence.
