國立臺灣美術館隸屬文化部，是台灣唯一的國家級美術館，也是目前亞洲最大的美術館之一，地處於臺中市中心點，交通便利，館佔地約三公頃，於1988年開館使用。國立臺灣美術館周邊景點有國立自然科學博物館、美術園道商圈、草悟道等知名景點，特殊的藝術氛圍帶動附近的藝文與商業活動，形成充滿文藝氣息的生活圈與觀光遊憩區。
